Who can qualify?
If you receive the correct benefits or credit, then you could have your old boiler replaced with a brand new boiler for little, or no cost to you at all.
As well as receiving the correct combination of benefits, your current gas boiler must be over 7 years old. If it is less than 7 years old, the scheme makes an assumption that it is more cost effective to repair your old boiler, than it is to have it replaced on the scheme.
Someone in the household must be on one of the following benefits to qualify
- Pension Guarantee Credit
- Income Support
- Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income Related Employment Support Allowance
The following will also be eligible however there are income limits
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit

- Household income limits for Tax Credits are annual and before tax. Limits for Universal Credit are monthly net income i.e. after tax
